Inspired by the well-known Huey Newton wicker chair photograph, this painting grew from the ideologies of black power and artistic expression. The use of a black woman as the center figure was to illustrate the power and leadership of women in the modern day fight against police brutality, anti-racism, and injustice. The choice of painting techniques and color were drawn from the famous works of Vincent Van Gogh.
